Ingredients

4 Lbs ground beef
1 1/2 Tablespoons oregano
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
Vegetable oil for grilling rack
12 small whole pita bread slices
24 thin slices of cucumber
18 thin slices of plum tomatoes
1 1/2 cups plain yogurt
2 cups mixed greek olives,pitted and roughly chopped.
6 oz crumbled feta cheese

 

Instructions

Prepare a medium-hot fire in a charcoal grill with a cover, or preheat a gas grill to medium-high. Patties: Combine ground beef, oregano,salt and pepper in a large mxing bowl.Handling the beef as little as possible to avoid compacting it, mix well.Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and form the portions into patties to fit the pita breads. When the grill is ready, brush the grill rack with vegetable oil. Place the patties on the rack, cover, and cook, turning once, until done to preference, about 6 minutes on each side for medium. To assemble the burgers. Place one whole pita slice on plate.Arrange 4 slices of cumcumber and 3 slices of plum tomatoes,alternating each around the pita slice closer to the edge of the bread. Place burger in center of bread.Top burger with 1/4 of yogurt.Top yogurt with 1/4 cup mixed Greek olives.Top Mixed Greek olives with 1 ounce crumbled feta cheese.Top with second slice of small whole pita slice.Serve and enjoy. Makes 6 burgers
