The Mighty Meatloaf Wonder Burgers

Pairs well with:

White Zinfandel

With strawberry and melon essences, this American original is perfectly at home with however you like to unwind.


1 ½ pounds ground round beef
½ cup Vidalia onion, chopped
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon Steak Seasoning
½ teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons yellow prepared mustard
2 tablespoons Grey Poupon mustard
1 ¾ cups Original Barbecue Sauce (save 1 ½ cups for final step)
1 extra large egg
½ cup corn flake crumbs
1/3 cup Italian style bread crumbs
¼ cup quick oatmeal
6 bakery, egg style buns, sliced
nonstick spray for grill tray
1/3 cup water
6 slices of super sharp cheddar cheese



Prepare a medium-hot heat fire in charcoal grill, or preheat a gas grill to medium-hot. To make the patties combine beef, onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt, steak seasoning, black pepper, yellow mustard, Grey Poupon mustard, ¼ cup  barbecue sauce, egg, cornflake crumbs, and oatmeal in a large bowl. Handle the meat as little possible, but mix well. Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and roll into a ball. Then press into a thick patty to form burgers to fit the buns. Spray a non-stick grilling tray with cooking spray. Grill the burgers on the non-stick grilling tray, approximately 5-7 minutes per side. After grilling burgers on both sides turn grill down to low heat. Mix remaining barbecue sauce with 1/3 cup of water. Place burgers in a 10 x 12 foil pan and pour barbecue sauce mixture over burgers. Cover with foil and place on top rack of grill for approximately 5 minutes. Remove from heat and remove foil. Place sliced cheddar cheese on burgers and allow to melt. While cheese is melting, lightly toast bakery buns on grill, sliced side down. Place burgers on buns and serve immediately. Serves 6.
