The ‘Ole Standby Burger

This rich red easily complements your homemade chicken dishes, red meats, game, and mildly seasoned pastas.


2 lbs ground beef
1/4 c worcestershire sauce
1/4 c soy sauce
1/4 c ketchup
1/4 c italian breadcrumbs
1/4 c parmesean cheese
2 tbsp cajun seasoning
1/4 c red onion chopped fine
2 cloves fresh garlic minced
6 potato rolls
6 romaine lettuce leaves
6 slices of red onion
3 kosher dill pickles sliced lengthwise
butter for rolls
dijon mustard



Combine worcestershire, soy, ketchup, onion, and garlic in pan. Heat to simmer stirring occasionally. Let cool. In large bowl, mix with hands, above mixture, bread crumbs, parm. cheese, cajun seasoning, and beef. Mix well. Form 6 patties. Grill on low heat for 20 or so min. on each side. Brush rolls and sliced onions with butter and place both on the grill until rolls are toasted and onions are slightly softened. Build burgers on bottom portion of roll with patties, lettuce, onions, pickles and mustard. Place top of roll on patties.
