Zaatar Zing Burger!

Ingredients

  • Zaatar seasoning:
  • 5 tablespoons sumac
  • 2 tablespoons dried thyme
  • 2 tablespoons dried oregano
  • 2 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 3 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Burgers:
  • 2 Pounds ground beef
  • 1 small white onion, diced
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 3/4 Cup zaatar seasoning (see above)
  • Garnish:
  • lettuce
  • sliced tomato
  • sliced red onion
  • truffle oil

Instructions

  • Make zaatar seasoning by stirring the ingredients together (sumac, thyme, oregano, cumin, sesame seeds, sea salt and black pepper)
  • Combine ground beef, onion, Dijon mustard and zaatar seasoning together until well mixed.
  • Form into six large patties (about 3/4 inch thick)

  • heat a lightly oiled pan on high heat and then grill the burgers for about 5 minutes per side until and internal
  • temperature of 160 degrees F.

  • serve burgers on a toasted brioche bun, top with garnishes; lettuce, tomatoes, red onion
  • 3. (optional) drizzle a bit of truffle oil on top of the burger
